Alabama Power Company issued a lake advisory for property owners on Lay, Mitchell and Jordan reservoirs Friday afternoon.

The advisory warned residents that “The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rainfall across the state today (Friday) and into Saturday, with a heavy concentration of that rainfall predicted to impact Alabama Power reservoirs.

“As a result, flood control operations, including spill-gate operations at certain dams along the Coosa and Tallapoosa reservoirs, should be expected. Lake levels could rise as a result of those flood control operations.

The company suggested individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities “should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power Company reservoirs and take the necessary steps to protect their property.”
