Maplesville softball grabs consecutive wins

Maplesville outlasted Dallas County to win a 10-9 thriller in eight innings on Thursday night.

Alyssa McGee earned her second victory of the week, as she allowed three earned runs on 14 hits while striking out three.

At the plate, the Red Devils were powered by Amy Fletcher, who had three hits including two singles and a double for a pair of RBIs.

Gracie Harrison had two hits with an RBI, while Josey Smitherman had a hit and was walked twice.

Once on base, she created havoc with five stolen bases that resulted into three runs scored.

Maplesville led 6-0 going into the sixth inning before Dallas County scored five runs thanks to two errors and two walks.

Maplesville added one run in the bottom of the sixth, but Dallas County scored two runs with two outs on the board in the top of the seventh.

In the eighth, Dallas County scored two runs on four singles.

In the bottom of the eighth, Smitherman walked and stole second base, and Fletcher hit a two-run single to tie the game.

Shea Girlie pinch ran for Jones and came around to score the winning run on a passed ball.

Maplesville is now 3-4 on the season.

Maplesville defeated Isabella 8-4 on the road Tuesday afternoon in an all-important area game.

McGee was once again the winning pitcher, after surrendering four unearned runs on three hits and two stirkeouts.

Allison Jones and Megan Weaver led the way with two hits apiece while each also scored a pair of runs. Jones drove in two RBIs.

The Red Devils scored four runs in the first inning, and gradually added to the lead with one in the second innings, two in the sixth and another in the seventh.
