George A. Barton Jr., 86, of Verbena, passed away Feb. 16.

Barton served his country proudly as a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a past member of the Pawnee Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Florence Barton.

He is survived by his loving family, four children, Sarah Robinson (Douglas), Glenn Barton (Deborah), Kathleen Myrick (Bobby) and Nancy Estell (Joey); a brother, Ralph Barton of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
