Doris Delene “Dot” Thomas

Doris Delene “Dot” Thomas, 79, of Clanton, passed away on Oct. 9 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Clanton July 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Joseph Terrell and the late Hattie Mae Moncrief Terrell.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Thomas of Clanton; daughter, Barbara Deyo of Clanton; son, Mike Thomas (Diane) of Clanton; granddaughters, Jennifer Rhodes (Gary), Rachel Watkins (Bruce) and Amanda Duke (Brandon); grandsons, Shannon Payton, Mark Payton (Hollie) and Jason Brown (Tiffany); great-granddaughters, Keera, Kinley, Alyssa, Brianna, Naomi, Taeghan, Kaydence and Lilliann; great-grandsons, Jake, Chance, Colton, Korey and Ashton and a special niece, Helen Payton (the Rev. Bruce) of Clanton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, along with daughter, Sheila Payton, son-in-law, Chester Payton, daughter, Mona Thomas; seven sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be held on Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Cleckler, the Rev. Robert Gibson and the Rev. Bruce Payton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cane Creek Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
