The Chilton County Tigers (3–2) gave the home crowd even more reason to celebrate homecoming on Friday with a 31–19 win against the Marbury Bulldogs (0–5).

Tyler Henderson scored the Tigers’ first touchdown of the night on a 10-yard carry with 4:20 on the clock in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs answered with a touchdown to tie it up, 7–7, with only 18 seconds left.

Chilton Co. scored next when Trenton Bishop completed a 40-yard pass to Braylen Parker, making the score 14–7 with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Marbury managed to kick a field goal to tack on three points, leaving the Tigers with a four-point lead at halftime.

Chilton Co. got down to business early in the third quarter with a touchdown by Davre Williams on a 92-yard run, bumping up the score, 21–10.

Later on, Stephen Horn kicked a 37-yard field goal to give the Tigers three more points.

In the fourth quarter, Keandre Binion recovered a Marbury fumble and scored a touchdown on a 94-yard run with 9:44 left on the clock. The Bulldogs posted a safety and later ran the ball in for one more touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to catch up with the Tigers.

“We had a lot of lucky breaks,” CCHS coach Donnie Hand said, citing his team’s handful of helpful interceptions and fumble recoveries. “I think we did a better job on offense moving the ball and throwing and catching. Next week’s a big game for us [as we are] trying to fight for that second spot in the area.”

Senior Natalie Peoples was crowned the 2013 CCHS Homecoming Queen, and Mason Easterling was named Homecoming King.

Peoples’ court included Katie Mims, senior representative; Madison Lynn, junior representative; Kendal Elijah, sophomore representative; and Anna Calhoun, freshman representative.
