Center Hill Church

Was Jesus mumbling and whispering while on the cross? Of course not, the Bible repeatedly says, “with a loud voice” Jesus spoke his final words. What about the words of our mouths and the actions of our bodies? Are we proclaiming the Good News boldly, or are we whispering softly about the love of God? When the time for our final words arrives, we may not be physically able to proclaim loudly what Christ has done for us. That is all the more reason that we are to be as bold as Jesus, Paul, and the other disciples while we have the opportunity.

“He Is Risen:” that is the theme of Easter Sunday! Our church celebrated the risen Jesus in the cemetery early Sunday morning. “In remembrance of me” is the phrase always associated with the observance of the Lord’s Supper. Having participated in this ordinance during our sunrise service was very special to all those that gathered at Center Hill. Afterward, our men prepared a delicious breakfast for all.

The theme for the worship service was “He Is Alive Forever. Amen!” Isn’t it wonderful that Jesus has the majesty to save, and that he can move the mountains? Thank you, choir and Jackie Champion, for preparing us to worship through song.

Our youth will be having their huge yard sale this Friday and Saturday on U.S. Highway 31. Next Sunday, our special guests will be Signs of Mercy. If you miss this, you will miss a blessing. Don’t forget our Senior Celebration on Tuesday, April 30.

Many Chilton County Christians gathered at the courthouse on Tuesday morning to participate in “Praying Across Alabama.” Several local pastors led in prayer, and Dr. Rick Lance urged all to pray for revival in our land. We are praying for our revival at Center Hill on May 5. Let us pray and witness boldly!

We had a worshipful service on Easter Sunday, hearing the word of God preached and singing songs in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bro. Steve’s sermon in the morning service was taken from John 20:1-10: “What Does the Resurrection Mean To Me?”

The empty tomb is meaningless without the resurrection, and Jesus’ resurrection was witnessed by many (Acts 1:3) for forty days, until his ascension back into heaven. An empty tomb is meaningless without faith in Christ and believing in what Jesus did; an empty tomb is meaningless without action. True belief in the resurrection will affect our attitudes and result in activity on his behalf. We see in the scriptures the wonderful effect the resurrection of Jesus Christ had on the disciples and what great witnesses they became. The most important effect the resurrection should have on us is that we will walk in newness of life. He can change our lives. Is he alive in your life?

On Sunday evening, Bro. Aubry Wallace brought the message from Mark 4:21-25: “You Can’t Hide From the Light.” In this scripture, Jesus told the parable of the candle to illustrate the spiritual light from Jesus Christ. As children of God, we should not hide our light, but live so that his light will be reflected in us. Jesus is the light of the world, and he can shine in the darkest places of this sinful world. That light should not be hidden, but shared with a lost and dying world. We have this responsibility: We will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ and will give an account of ourselves to God. (Romans 14:12)
