Brenda Hardy Moore, 52 of Johns Creek, Ga., passed away on Dec. 27, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Moore; a daughter, Kelsey Moore; her mother, Audrey Cox; stepfather, Raymond Cox; her sister, Janice Isley; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Ford Hardy, and her sister, Ann Carden.

She was born in Clanton, attended Chilton County High School and was a member of First Baptist Church.

She graduated from the University of Montevallo and received her CPA certification soon afterward.

She worked as a CPA in Birmingham upon graduation, where she met her future husband in a scuba diving class.

She was married in 1986 and soon moved to Atlanta, where she worked as an accounting manager, controller and CFO for several major law firms. Soon after her daughter was born, she was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and her leg was amputated.

She continued to participate in all her normal activities, even diving, and was declared cancer free after five years.

Her cancer returned in 2007 and she was treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center for five years, continuing to work and support her family.

Brenda was an inspiration to all who knew her, never letting her disease get in the way of living her life to the fullest.

She travelled extensively with her family and was a voracious reader. She tremendously enjoyed her work and was proud to work for some of Atlanta’s premier law firms.

She was an excellent provider, being the sole provider for her family, so her husband, Joe, could be a stay-at-home dad for their child.

We will miss her terribly and are glad she is at peace.

She will be remembered at a memorial service on Friday, Jan. 4, at 3 p.m. with visitation from 2-3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rick Marshall officiating.

The family requests that lasting memorials be made by giving to charities that support childhood cancer, Brenda’s favorite cause.
