The Clanton Police Department will have a community event to meet residents Oct. 27 from 10-1 p.m. in E.M. Henry/West End park.

“We want to meet with the community in an unofficial capacity, allowing those who we serve to get to know us better and for us to better understand the needs of the community,” Police Chief Brian Stilwell said in a release.

West End Neighborhood Watch has been instrumental in getting this event organized. There will be law enforcement equipment displays, fire equipment displays, a rescue display, and the CPD will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers for those who attend.

“We just want to have a laid back couple of hours in the park to improve relationships,” Stilwell said. “I can’t thank Mayor Billy Joe Driver, Councilman Greg DeJarnett, the Clanton City Council, and the West End Neighborhood Watch enough for allowing us to do events like this. Good communication and relationships are important.”

CPD would also like to thank Clanton Fire and Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis for assisting in the event.
