John Carey Pruett, 70, of Verbena died Thursday, April 28, 2011.

He was born Monday, Jan. 6, 1941, in Montgomery, son of the late Guerry W. Pruett and the late Eugenia Harper Pruett.

He was a civil engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Genie Pruett of Verbena; two daughters, Dorothy Pruett Wagner of Freeland, Md. and Cathryn Pruett Maulden of Montgomery; brother, Thaddeus Harper Pruett of Montgomery; and four grandchildren, Jere-Ann Wagner, Robert Collin Wagner, Julia Harper Wagner and Morgan Elizabeth Maulden. He was also survived by beloved friends on Lake Mitchell.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
