Thorsby School’s prekindergarten through sixth grade students participated in the Books R Fun Book Blast before departing for summer break that put more books into the student’s home libraries.

The Book Blast raised funds for the students by asking them to follow a treasure map that included submitting names of 10 friends or family members that made donations to their accounts. The money donated to the student’s accounts was used to purchase books for them and their friends to take home and add to their home libraries.

The students received their books on May 16, and they enjoyed some DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time with their new books right after.

“Students and teachers enjoyed the Book Blast and look forward to next year when they will have the opportunity to receive more books,” Thorsby teacher Vanessa Langston said.
