CHILTON COUNTY – A marine-related event occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. Sunday, May 26, which resulted in the injury of three individuals. Phillip L. McCarn, 39, of Hoover was injured while attempting to crank a 2000 Maxum 19-foot bow rider. The vessel suddenly burst into flames causing injuries to McCarn and two other passengers on board the vessel at the time. All three individuals received medical attention and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred in the Cargile Creek area of Lake Mitchell near Grace’s Marina in Chilton County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate.
