Chilton County High School’s Brody Pierce is this week’s athlete of the week after his performances during the week of March 29-April 4. Pierce was 8-for-15 across five games during the week and has begun to grow into his own in the leadoff spot in the Tigers’ lineup.
Pierce’s week began in Oxford at a tournament at Choccolocco Park with four games, and he had no hits going 0-for-3 in game one.
However, in game two on March 29 against Oxford High School, Pierce broke out going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two RBIs. He carried over that momentum into March 30 with a 2-for-3 effort with a triple, RBI and three runs scored against Faith Christian School. Pierce’s best game came later on March 30 against Gadsden City High School going 3-for-3 and coming up a home run shy of the cycle with three runs scored. He ended his week going 1-for-3 against Marbury High School on April 3.
Honorable mention: Ada Willis, Billingsley High School
Ada Willis was a gem in the circle for Billingsley this week, starting on April 1 with her stellar performance against Keith High School throwing a complete game of seven innings surrendering just three hits, three runs (all unearned) and striking out 16 batters. She was also 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.
Willis was in the circle again for the Bears on April 4 in game one of a doubleheader with Autaugaville High School, and she shut them down with three innings of no-hit softball with eight strikeouts. She was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI at the plate as well.
Honorable mention: Tyeshia Williams, Chilton County High School
Tyeshia Williams helped boost CCHS to a crucial AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 win on April 3 against Stanhope Elmore High School. The senior launched two home runs in the game and had three RBIs in a 3-for-4 effort. Williams added a 1-for-2 night on April 4 against Wetumpka High School.
