A parole hearing for a Chilton County offender was held on March 12 by the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.

John Michael Scott was denied parole by the board, but received a reset date of March 2029. Scott’s sister, Patricia Harrell, spoke in favor of Scott being granted parole, and Nayla Contreras of the Attorney General’s office spoke against parole being granted.

Scott was sentenced to 35 years in prison on November 12, 2010 for a murder conviction in Chilton County, and he has currently served 16 years, six months and 29 days of his sentence so far. Scott’s minimum release date is set for August 25, 2042, unless parole is granted before then.
