The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office released more information on March 21 regarding a road rage related shooting on Interstate 65 the day before.

At approximately 2:09 p.m. on March 20, a road rage incident with shots fired was called into the CCSO and Clanton Police Department by the victim on I-65. The suspect and victim vehicles both took Exit 212 on I-65 and turned southbound onto AL Highway 145, then turned right onto Bell Lane Road where officers from CPD stopped both vehicles around the 600-block area.

Gary and Ashley Ledlow were identified by investigators as the occupants of the suspect vehicle and were taken to the Chilton County Jail for questioning. The victim was taken to Ascension St. Vincent’s Chilton for non-life-threatening injuries, but did have a shot graze them in the neck/chin area.

Gary and Ashley Ledlow were both charged with Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle, Assault First and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

“We extend our gratitude to the Clanton Police Department, Jemison Police Department, 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and ALEA for their assistance,” John Shearon, Chilton County Sheriff, said in the press release about the incident. “It is unfortunate that individuals resort to firearm use in moments of anger, resulting in someone being shot. Once a bullet is fired, its impact cannot be undone, affecting lives irreversibly.”

The CCSO is encouraging anyone who was traveling on I-65 near mile marker 217 at that time who may have witnessed anything to contact them at 205-755-4698, or visit their website www.chiltoncountyso.org.
