The opportunity to make the sub-regionals are here for the seven varsity boys’ basketball programs in the Chilton County area. While Maplesville is the lone host school for their area tournament, six other schools will need to win at least one game away from home in order to make the sub-regional. The two finalists from each area tournament advance to the sub-regional round.

Billingsley, Verbena and Isabella high schools get their journeys going on Feb. 2 in the first round of their respective area tournaments. Billingsley and Verbena face off with the opportunity to face Maplesville in the semifinals of the AHSAA Class 1A Area 7 Basketball Tournament. Isabella faces Fayetteville High School in the first round of the AHSAA Class 2A Area 7 Basketball Tournament. Thorsby High School is also in that tournament, starting on Feb. 6 against B.B. Comer High School.

Jemison High School has only four teams in the AHSAA Class 5A Area 8 Basketball Tournament, and it starts on Feb. 5 with the Panthers facing Sylacauga High School with a berth in the sub-regional on the line.

Chilton County High School tips off the AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 Basketball Tournament on the same day against Calera High School, another berth in the sub-regional on the line in the first game.

All tournaments will conclude on Feb. 7-8, with the sub-regionals following on Feb. 9-10.
