Varsity girls teams clash for county tourney crown

Six varsity girls programs will clash at Chilton County High School starting on Jan. 2 for the 2024 Chilton County Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament title. Verbena High School is the host school, but the tournament will be played on the 2023 county tournament champion’s home court at CCHS to accommodate the crowd.

Thorsby and Jemison high schools get the tournament started at 4 p.m. on Jan. 2 in the first round with the four and five seed matchup. Maplesville and Verbena high schools play the following day at 5 p.m. in the three and six seed game in the first round.

The one seed Isabella High School awaits the winner of Thorsby and Jemison on Jan. 4 at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal. Then, on Jan. 5, the two seed Chilton County plays the winner of Maplesville and Verbena at 5 p.m.

The tournament’s championship game is Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. prior to the varsity boy’s county tournament final.
