Maplesville High School’s Nehemiah McCary is this week’s athlete of the week following his performances during the week of Dec. 8-14.

McCary’s week started by posting 19 points, six rebounds and four steals in a 43-38 win over Loachapoka High School in the Red Devils first area game of the season on Dec. 11. McCary stepped his game up to another level the next day, as the eighth grader posting 23 points and six rebounds in a 66-63 loss to Dallas County High School.

McCary’s impressive scoring display during the week ended on Dec. 14 with 21 points, leading Maplesville to a 49-48 win over Billingsley High School.

 

Honorable mention: Iasia Anderson, Chilton County High School

Chilton County High School’s triple-double machine Iasia Anderson added two more to her list, starting on Dec. 12 in the Tigers 63-42 win over Wetumpka. Anderson had 20 points, 11 steals, 10 assists and nine rebounds in the victory.

Anderson notched her second triple-double of the week in the Tigers 67-47 loss to Pike Road High School on Dec. 14. Anderson had 10’s across the board with 10 points, 10 steals and 10 assists.
