Julie Harrison was named the 2023 Alabama Art Educator of the Year by the Alabama Art Education Association earlier this school year. Harrison, the art specialist at Clanton Elementary School, was nominated and won the award for “her brilliant and intentional work as an Alabama art educator … and recognizing your commitment to your students,” a press release from the AAEA said.
Harrison was recognized for winning the award at the annual state Fall Conference in Dothan on Oct. 20.
