Four Chilton County high school volleyball teams extended their seasons to the regional tournament in Montgomery at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl from Oct. 25-26 in hopes of bringing home a state championship.

Two of the schools got within one game of advancing to the eight-team state tournament, but fell just short of the ultimate goal.

Isabella High School landed at the regional tournament having secured the AHSAA Class 2A Area 8 tournament title which earned them a matchup with Lanett High School in the first round. The Mustangs cruised to a 3-0 win to set up a matchup with G.W. Long High School with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

Isabella fell to Long 3-1 in a close matchup, and Long would go on to win the regional tournament.

Billingsley High School won the AHSAA Class 1A Area 7 tournament to earn a first-round matchup with Southern Choctaw High School in the first round that the Bears won 3-0 to set up a game against Elba High School in the second round.

In a razor-close contest, the Bears lost 3-2 to fall just a few points short of the state tournament.

The runner-up in AHSAA Class 5A Area 8 Jemison High School took on Montgomery Academy in the first round of the Class 5A regional tournament, and the Panthers lost 3-0 to the eventual regional tournament champions.

Chilton County High School, the runner-up in AHSAA Class 6A Area 5, lost a close first-round match against McAdory High School 3-2 to end its season.
