Billingsley High School was eliminated from postseason contention on Oct. 27 falling to Loachapoka High School 31-21.

The Bears held a late lead in the fourth quarter over unbeaten Loachapoka, but a late run by the Indians in the final quarter spelled trouble. Billingsley outgained Loachapoka in total yards 344-246, but a late turnover helped boost the Indians to remain unbeaten.

Billingsley quarterback Landon Jones was 13-for-23 passing for 213 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He added 35 yards rushing to his totals and a rushing touchdown. Kaden Cotton led the Bears in rushing with 59 yards on eight carries.

Kyle Boice was Jones’ favorite target, catching five balls for 69 yards and a touchdown. Cotton also snagged a touchdown grab in the game while catching three passes for 43 yards.

Seniors Nathan Gilmore and Colby Green led the Bears’ defense with 12 tackles each.

Billingsley (2-7) wraps up their 2023 season hosting Thorsby High School on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
