Students from Isabella and Maplesville high schools competed in the County Safe Tractor Driving and Zero Turn Tractor Driving competitions at LeCroy Career Technical Center on Oct. 5.

Isabella senior Austin Miller won the Safe Tractor Driving Competition. The purpose of the competition is to advance safety, skill and efficiency in the use of tractor and equipment. The win was Miller’s third county competition win, and Miller has captured a Central District Eliminations title too in the past.

Isabella eighth grader Drew Smith won the Zero Turn Driving Competition. The purpose of this competition is to allow FFA members to demonstrate their knowledge about the care and operation of zero turn tractors while improving their knowledge of lawn care and safety. This was Smith’s first year competing in the competition.

Both Miller and Smith advanced to the Central District Eliminations on Oct. 24 in Chambers County.
