Holtville High School got the better of Jemison High School 28-6 on Oct. 6 in an AHSAA Class 5A Region 3 clash.

Holtville led 21-0 at halftime over the Panthers, and Jemison began the second half driving inside Holtville’s red zone. However, a turnover on downs ended the threat.

Jemison drove inside the Holtville red zone again early in the fourth quarter, but another stop left the Panthers without any points to show for it.

The third time was the charm for Jemison as the third time inside the Holtville red zone in the second half resulted in points, a rushing touchdown by Chaz Melton.

A.J. Ford ran for a team-high 42 yards on 11 carries for the Panthers, and quarterback Luke Gann was 9-for-15 passing for 75 yards and one interception.

Houston Harris was Jemison’s leading tackler with 11, followed by Hayden Oliver with seven. Oliver also had a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Travon Rudolph pulled down an interception, and DaVion Slaughter forced a fumble that was recovered by JuanCarlos Sanchez for the Panthers as well.

Jemison (1-5) travels to Demopolis High School on Oct. 13 for their next matchup at 7 p.m.
