Manhunt by ALEA underway in Chilton County

A manhunt is underway for a suspect in Chilton County after fleeing from a traffic stop on Sept. 28 at approximately 5:20 p.m.

In a press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency at 9:32 p.m. on Sept. 28, a state trooper attempted to arrest an individual after a traffic stop on Interstate 65 near the 200-mile marker in Chilton County. The suspect fled the scene during the attempted arrest which led to a manhunt. The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the search with special agents with the ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation and the Aviation Unit.

The suspect has not been captured, and ALEA will continue to provide updates to the situation as they are available.

Captain Frank Davis with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said there is no danger to the public in Chilton County.

Sept. 29, 2:49 p.m.

Sergeant Jeremy Burkett with ALEA confirmed the suspect has not been captured yet, but they do not serve as a danger to the public.
