Billingsley High School bounced back in a big way from their loss one week ago with a 42-12 win over Autaugaville High School on Sept. 22.

Quarterback Landon Jones managed the game well on offense for the Bears going 7-for-11 for 192 yards and three touchdowns, and accounting for 92 yards on 10 rushes and a touchdown on the ground.

Kyle Boice was his favorite target as he hauled in three catches for 128 yards and one touchdown. Kaden Cotton and Derriet Moore each had a touchdown catch as well, and Cotton ran for 98 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. The Bears posted 407 total yards in route to their second AHSAA Class 1A Region 4 win of the season. Cotton added a kick return for a touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the game as well.

“We needed that win for sure, and I told the guys that we need to take advantage of those big opportunities that we have to make big plays that we have not done yet this year,” Billingsley head coach Lanny Jones said. “I still believe we are getting better each week, and it is just staying with the process and not quitting. It is a testament of where our kids are at in the program in trusting it and knowing that in any game we have an opportunity to compete in and win.”

Colby Green had a stellar showing for the Billingsley defense leading them in tackles with nine and had two sacks.

Billingsley (2-2) will travel to Isabella High School on Sept. 29 for their next matchup outside of region play.
