The Jemison City Council approved its Transportation Plan for the next fiscal year at its meeting on Aug. 21. The city’s Transportation Plan is the outline of where the Rebuild Alabama Act funds that Jemison receives each year will go. Rebuild Alabama Act funds go towards transportation infrastructure, improvements, preservation and maintenance. Jemison’s funds can only go towards maintenance, improvement, replacement and construction of roads and bridges maintained by the City of Jemison.

Resolution 08-21-23R, which was approved unanimously by the council at the meeting, states that the city must adopt its Transportation Plan no later than Aug. 31 each year. It says it must “provide a detailed list of projects for which expenditures are intended to be made in the next fiscal year,” and base it off of the amount of projected funds they will receive.

The resolution also included the Transportation Plan for the next fiscal year that projects the Rebuild Alabama Act funds that Jemison will receive to be around $34,079. The projects listed on the plan that the funds will be used for include County Road 71 from County Road 42 to the intersection of CR 71 and County Road 231 (Pine Hill Road), and County Road 44 from U.S. Highway 31 to CR 42.
