The residents of Maplesville now have another place to shop for everyday items and groceries as the anticipated Family Dollar and Dollar Tree combo store has opened its doors.

The combo dollar store sits in the 8900 block of Highway 22 in Maplesville and is full of everyday items such as cleaning supplies, hygiene items, household items and more. There is also a large grocery section available as well. The business will create 20 direct jobs in the Chilton County community and 60 in total, according to developer Murray Farmer in an interview with The Clanton Advertiser in August 2022.

For residents like Albert Sims, who have lived in Maplesville their entire lives, see stores like this open regularly. However, he said it is always good to have more and thinks this one will be successful as well.

“It is really nice to have here (in Maplesville),” Sims said. “This is our first time coming here, and we only live about five miles away. It is really close and convenient.”

Kristie Hall of Prattville is the manager of the store and was looking for a change when she found the store opening in Maplesville. Hall decided to apply, and her years of managerial experience at previous jobs landed her the job and new scenery in Chilton County. She was not familiar with Chilton County before starting, but said she has enjoyed her first few weeks on the job.

“It has been very busy the first week, and very unexpectedly,” Hall said. “We are trying to make an impact in the community … I love it here, and the people here are very nice.”

The Family Dollar and Dollar Tree combo store is 10,500 square feet in size and is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the week.
