Raymond Holloway and Eli Good are best friends and have been car enthusiasts their entire lives. The duo is now bringing their second Chilton Toyz event to the county with the first annual Chilton Toyz Car Show on July 29.

Holloway and Good hosted a car meet in January at Goose Pond Park in Clanton with no entry fee and was just a place for people to come out and show off their cars. The two put together the event in just three weeks and were surprised with the turnout.

“It was a good turnout, and a lot more people than we expected,” Holloway said. “A lot of cool cars, and a lot of cars we did not expect to come out.”

“We did not think it would be like that on short notice,” Good said. “For the amount of people that showed up and showed support, it was very cool to see.”

The first annual Chilton Toyz Car Show will be at Baugh Ford at 1670 7th Street North, Clanton from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Raffle items, food trucks, a bounce house and more will be part of the event. The price is $10 for spectators and $20 to enter a car into the show, and children 12 and under are free. Trophies will be handed out to the best cars at the show as well.

“How ever you want to do your ride is how you do it,” Holloway said. “Car, bikes, trucks, bring them all.”

Both Holloway and Good have a love of cars. Holloway runs Slim’s Detailing in Clanton and Good runs IB_Good YouTube page with over 500 subscribers, and both will have their entities sponsoring the upcoming car show.

Good said the car scene in Chilton County has always been there, but more of an undercover thing. Good said you will see a beautiful classic car out on a Sunday afternoon, but not see it again for months. In creating the annual car meet and show, Good hopes this will encourage those gearheads to bring their cars out for the public to enjoy.

“People work really hard for what they have, but they rarely want to show them off,” Good said. “We want them to clean it up really nice and come out. Bring the kids, grandkids and everyone will have a great, safe time. The unity of getting everyone together for something good … They can come and know there is peace of mind here … We had in our heads that we would do something in this town, and to bring a car show here was important.”

Holloway and Good said they will continue to do the car meet in January as well in 2024. With the show being in the winter months, it gives car enthusiasts an event to look forward to in the “down season” for car meets and shows.

“We are taking it one step at a time,” Holloway said. “We are best friends and we bounce ideas off of each other all the time, so there is no telling what we might think up. Just come out and have fun.”
