Thorsby captures two FFA state titles at convention

The Thorsby High School FFA program once again showcased its skills at the 95th annual Alabama FFA State Convention in Montgomery from June 7-9 taking home two state championships.

The Rebels added two more teams, its meats evaluation and poultry evaluation, that they will send to the 96th annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana from Nov. 1-4. They will join the Thorsby dairy evaluation team in Indianapolis.

Members of the meats evaluation team were Brock Johnson, Lilly Smith, Tori Mims and Mesha Mims, and Mesha Mims was the state high scoring individual to help lead them to the state championship.

Ava Robinson, Elizabeth Cochran, Lexi Crowe and Presley Raye Knighton made up the poultry evaluation team, and Knighton was the state high scoring individual to help lead them to the state championship.

Also at the state convention, Jadon Green took home the state top scoring individual in the agricultural sales division to win the state title. Thorsby’s veterinary science team of Haley Maddox, Ella Brasfield, Abdul Elkhitib and Green placed second at the state convention. The Rebels forestry team of Aiden Niamon, Aiden Turner, Luke Turner and Brady Mims placed third at the state convention.
