Harrison contributes for Tigers in the circle, at the plate

Mallie Harrison of Chilton County High School is this week’s athlete of the week for her performances during the week of April 4-10. Harrison had two games going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, and pitched in four games earning three wins for the Tigers.  

Harrison’s great week began against Carver High School on April 4 where she went 4-for-4 with two doubles and seven RBIs. She also secured the AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 win for CCHS going three innings and giving up no hits, no runs and striking out six strikeouts.  

Harrison got her second area win as a pitcher during the week on April 5 taking down Stanhope Elmore High School 8-7 with seven innings on nine-hit baseball, giving up seven runs with just one earned. She was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI.  

Harrison’s third win of the week was on April 7 over Marbury High School going the full seven innings again and giving up six hits, two runs with both unearned and striking out four hitters.  

Harrison bookended her week with her second 4-for-4 performance against Holtville High School on April 10. She launched a home run and collected two RBIs. Harrison also pitched the game for the Tigers giving her four starts during the busy week for the Tigers.  

 

Honorable Mention: Makinley Turner, Thorsby High School 

 

The Rebels’ Makinley Turner was just three pitches short of a perfect game in Thorsby High School’s 4-0 win over Verbena High School on April 6. In Thorsby’s lone game of the week, Turner went the full seven innings and surrendered no runs, no walks and just two hits which were two singles.  

Turner dominated the Verbena lineup and sat down 17 hitters in the game.
