About a month ago, I wrote a column asking for the community’s response and if they would be interested in a motorsports page starting up that will feature both local coverage of the racing season at Buckshot Speedway and some NASCAR updates.

Well, since then I received many emails from community members expressing their positive thoughts about the page starting up and different ways to incorporate different things into the page. It was great hearing the community’s suggestions, and it was great to see so many people in Chilton County that are interested in motorsports.

I am proud to announce that on March 29 the first copy of Chilton Trackpass will be in print. This is something I have worked extremely hard on to make sure everything is in place, and I am so excited to put my own spin on something that is near and dear to my heart.

The page will feature Buckshot Speedway coverage and NASCAR coverage. The local portion will include a story about a driver or team, or a recap story of the previous weekend’s racing action at Buckshot Speedway. There will also be a section that shows the point standings for all of the classes at Buckshot, and a section that will have quotes from some of the winners of the races from the weekend before.

The NASCAR portion will feature much of the same with a story recapping the previous race and looking forward to the next one. A section called “The Starting Grid” will have all the information for the week’s upcoming race, and a section called ‘As They Stand’ that will have the live point standings in the NASCAR Cup Series. I am also looking to add a section called ‘Poll Position’ that will feature a poll question about NASCAR that the community can weigh in and comment on. The results from the poll and a few comments will run in the section.

A lot of time and work has gone into making this a reality, and it could not have happened without the support and outreach from the Chilton County community showing that there is a motorsports culture here.

This support can continue through paid advertisement from sponsors for the page. The Clanton Advertiser is looking for any business in Chilton County that would like to sponsor the page and get a 6×2 inch strip ad at the bottom of the page. Any businesses interested can contact myself (carey.reeder@clantonadvertiser.com) or our advertising specialist Zack Bates (zack.bates@clantonadvertiser.com) through email.

Again, thank you to the community for your suggestions, and I look forward to getting know everyone associated with motorsports in Chilton County.
