The Birmingham Business Journal has unveiled the honorees for Birmingham’s Top 40 Under 40. In February, Clanton resident, Josh Mims, age 37 of Clanton, was named to this list of the best business professionals of Birmingham. Mims works as lead supervisor for Capstone Building Corporation and has worked for the company 11 years.

Capstone is a premier general contractor that specializes in the construction of low to mid-rise multifamily housing.

“I love that every day my position offers something different,” said Mims. “There is always a problem to solve and something new to learn.”

Mims began his career in the construction industry at an early age, working with family members that were contractors.

“My grandfather, Sammy Wilson, had a construction company, and since I was big enough to pick up a hammer, I started helping him,” said Mims. “We worked alongside of him, and he taught us how to do it all — framing, plumbing, electrical. After graduating from Chilton County High School, I went to work full-time in construction.”

Mims said that his success and recognition is due to the support of his family.

“I am grateful for my grandfather and parents that taught me what I know,” said Mims. “I am also thankful to my wife Jaclyn and son Jackson for their support. I couldn’t do it without them. It can be difficult at times traveling and being apart but we always make it work.”

In Mims spare time, he enjoys playing golf, hunting, fishing, watching his son play baseball and traveling.
