Construction on the Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree in Maplesville is making progress.

The frame that was begun in December has been completed, and construction continues.

The former site of a fireworks stand, the property on Highway 22 now shows the shell of the 10,500-square-foot building, which will eventually bring a Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree to town.

Once complete, the building will be leased to the retail companies.

Developer Murray Farmer of Farmer & Associates Inc. previously estimated that the stores would open on Feb. 1, 2023. However, at the time, construction was estimated to be complete by the end of October.

“I think it is going to be exciting,” Farmer said in an August interview. “It is going to create about 20 direct jobs in the community, and about 60 in total with the trickle effects (in) economics.”

Online applications will be accepted at familydollar.com/careers-store.
