The Clanton City Council approved two rezoning requests during its meeting on Aug. 8.

Royce and Lila Ellison received unanimous approval to rezone their property on Cooedy Road from AG agricultural to M-1 light industrial district, and Jeffrey Bennett received unanimous approval to rezone his property on Center Avenue from R-3 multi-family residential district to B-2 general.

The council also entered into agreements with Clanton Blue Tigers and Clanton Girls Softball for them to be able to use the city fields.

Appointments to the Clanton Housing Authority board were also approved.

A change to the city code to increase the issuance fee to $14 starting Jan. 1 for a business license, which is in addition to the cost of the business license, was read. The change is expected to be voted on at a future meeting.
