CCHS looks to defend county tournament crown

The Chilton County softball county tournament is set to take place March 10-12 at Jemison High School. Pool play will start on the 10th with the defending champions Chilton County High School taking on Isabella High School at 4 p.m. in pool A action.

“We’ve got a good bunch, and we’re going to continue to keep working,” CCHS coach Johnny Giles said. “We need to take care of business, control what we can control, and I like our chances.”

Pool B’s first game follows at 5:30 p.m. between Maplesville and Thorsby.

CCHS plays Verbena in the night cap at 7 p.m. to close out day one of pool play.

Day two of pool play sees the host school Jemison take on Maplesville at 4 p.m. followed by Isabella and Verbena in pool A at 5:30 p.m. Jemison and Thorsby close out pool play at 7:30 p.m. on the 11th.

“It’s a big deal around the county and it will be packed,” Jemison coach Kelsey Mims said. “Glad we get to host it, and it’ll be a great weekend.”

Saturday is the busiest day with five games scheduled starting at 9 a.m. going stretching all the way till 5 p.m. with the championship game. The two semifinal games will be at 1 and 3 p.m.
