Those looking for unique Christmas gifts in Chilton County have a new shopping opportunity this year through the Christmas Market at Cornelius Farms.

The event will be Nov. 12 -13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Susan and John Cornelius started Market Days on the Farm earlier this year with a fall market.

“We plan to have three markets a year — a spring, fall and a Christmas market,” Susan Cornelius said.

The Christmas Market in the custom, open air barn will feature “upscale vendors” of antiques, vintage items, clothing, jewelry, home décor and custom-made items. Vendors are coming from throughout the region and as far away as Mississippi.

Susan Cornelius said the goal is for the event to have a nostalgic, vintage Christmas look and feel.

“We are trying to create a Christmas market that brings back memories for people,” she said.

Nov. 13 will feature musician Jason Henley from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food vendors will also offer a variety of options from locals Jenson Cinnamon Bread and Zone Café to Dixie Snack Company kettle corn and the Chick-fil-A food truck

The interest in finding antiques and vintage items began for Susan Cornelius at a young age.

“I have been doing what you call picking and junking since I was little,” she said.

She also developed a passion for architectural salvage, rescuing pieces of older buildings and giving them new purpose.

“I like to be able to take something and transform it into something that is useable again,” Susan Cornelius said.” … I enjoy seeing people get excited when they see the end result,”

She had an online and popup shop business but wanted to be able to host a market where others could enjoy looking for their next treasure.

“I thought Clanton would be a perfect location,” she said. “… It has been a vision for a long time.”
