When I first started here with The Clanton Advertiser, one of the first responsibilities that I was given was being put in charge of the paper’s annual Kickoff magazine.
Now, I was not going to start working on it for months as I started my job in February and football season began in August, but immediately my mind flipped to the countless preseason magazines that I had read in my life. I had many ideas and wanted the magazine to be perfect.
Fast forward a few months, and my work began. Little did I realize that putting together a magazine was going to be as much work as it has turned out to be.
There are so many parts to juggle when working on a project like this, and there are so many people that end up being involved. I have had to reach out to coaches, players and other staff members of the schools in the county numerous times for information, pictures and other items. My name goes on the magazine, but truthfully, it would not happen without the help of so many other people that are involved.
As we approach football season, this year’s edition of Kickoff is nearing completion, and I want to thank every person that had a helping hand in putting this together. It was my first one, so there was a lot of pressure in trying to do a good job. I hope this is a smoother process next time, and I hope all of the football fans in Chilton County enjoy the magazine this year.
Copies of this year’s Kickoff magazine will be available at local games beginning in week two of this season. They will also be available at our office at 1109 Seventh Street North in Clanton.
