Football season is nearly upon us

As we get later in the summer, the days get hotter but the anticipation gets higher.

People all around the country are getting ready to trade in their tank tops for football jerseys, and others are cleaning up their grills and coolers as they prepare for tailgates.

The greatest time of the year is nearly here.

Football season.

For me, this fall will be an extremely exciting one. The Crimson Tide may dominate this state, but I will be representing the orange and blue each Saturday, rooting on my Florida Gators to make the leap to win the SEC (I know it is unlikely, and Alabama will probably win the conference again).

On the professional football front, my hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be attempting to defend their Super Bowl title. Sundays will be loud in my home as I cheer on the Bucs to be the first back-back-back Super Bowl champion in nearly two decades.

This football season will also be my first covering high school football in Chilton County, and that may be the most exciting part of my fall.

I will be on the sidelines each week, taking in the passion of each player, coach and fan every Friday night, and I cannot wait.

With new coaches and new players, many schools are breaking in new eras in their football programs.

As a football maniac, I will be excited to see how it all unfolds.

We are just a month away now from the best time of the year.

I know I’m ready, and I’m sure everyone in Chilton County is ready too.
