A longtime resident of Maplesville, Mr. Jimmy Lee Worthey, age 89 and a Covid-19 survivor will be awarded the “Golden Vessel” Award by the Nationally syndicated Talk Show, Alabama Gospel Roots. It will air on Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m. on Alabama Public Television (PBS).
Worthey, affectionately known as “Cousin Jim,” has been married to his beautiful wife Mrs. Leanna Worthey, age 90, for almost 70 years. He still wakes up every morning to tend to his farm and run his logging business that he’s done his entire life. You can find him every Sunday morning serving as Deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Worthy not only retired from ABC Rail, but owns hundreds of acres of land and cattle. His parents and grandparents taught him and now his children and grandchildren continue to carry on the Worthey Logging and Worthey Farms Franchise.
