From Chilton County Chamber of Commerce

The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Connie Bainbridge has been selected as its 2020 Distinguished Citizen of the Year. The recipient of this award is selected by unanimous approval of the Board of Directors in recognition of many years of exceptional service to the residents of Chilton County. Previous recipients of the award include eight-term Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver and Bobby Martin, the longest serving Probate Judge in the history of Chilton County.

In making the presentation, Chamber of Commerce President Billy Singleton thanked Bainbridge for her many years of dedication and service to the people of Chilton County and central Alabama. “As the Manager of Community and Economic Development for Central Alabama Electric Cooperative, Connie has been involved in virtually every aspect of our economic development efforts,” Singleton said. “She has served as a member of Boards of directors, committees, in advisory capacities and as our most vocal cheerleader. As the people of Chilton County work to secure the most significant economic development opportunities in our history, we will forever be indebted to Central Alabama Electric Cooperative for their support and contributions, but especially for sharing with us one of their most remarkable and valuable resources, Connie Bainbridge.”

Bainbridge has a long association with Chambers of Commerce in Alabama and formerly served as Executive Director of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce. In 2020, she was awarded the inaugural Chamber Partner Award by the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama in recognition of her many efforts in building a better Alabama through the Chamber of Commerce. According to Jeremy Arthur, President and Chief Executive Officer, “Alabama is a better place due to Connie’s spirit and commitment of time and the gifts she gives for the benefit of all.”
