From The City of Clanton

The City of Clanton is in the research phase for a dog park to be located in Goose Pond Park and is asking for community participation in developing a grant application.

On March 13 at 9:30 a.m., Kim Trimble will be meeting in the open field to the left and back of Goose Pond Park on Highway 31 to have a drone video/photoshoot. (If it’s raining, we will reschedule.) The video will be used to apply for a grant to fund development of a dog park.

The lot across the creek directly behind Goose Pond is the planned site for the park. It won’t take very long at all to do the shoot, so please get there a few minutes ahead of time. We will be spacing out about 6 feet apart not only for COVID protocol but also to keep the dogs from entangling themselves and their humans.

All dogs must be leashed or harnessed and under your control at all times, if not you’ll be asked to leave. Please make sure your dog is ok around other dogs and isn’t afraid of loud noises, as the drone is very loud and we don’t want any doggies to be afraid.

Please make signs if you’d like, we will have some that will spell out Clanton and will need volunteers to hold them up (in order please, lol). Other ideas are “We need a dog park,” “We love our dogs/ Clanton’s Dogs” — you get the idea. Put your doggies name on them too!

Also, please do not litter or leave any “presents from your dog” in the area. If you don’t have doggie poop bags, we will have a box and will give you some.

Hope everyone is excited about the potential dog park and walking track, and we can’t wait to see you next weekend.
