A warehouse used by Barry’s Furniture in Jemison was destroyed in a fire on Feb. 1.
Jemison Fire Chief John Dennis said the building had already been engulfed in flames when the department responded to the scene at 5:39 p.m.
No one was in the building at the time. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time as the State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
Dennis said the department had the fire under control in about an hour. The department worked the scene for about two and a half hours.
The building is one of three on the company’s property. The other two buildings, which were being renovated after receiving damage from Tropical Storm Zeta last year, were not damaged in the fire.
