Chilton Christian Academy in Jemison has announced a change to the school start date.

Originally set to start Aug. 24, the school will now begin fall classes in person on Sept. 8 after some staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

The announcement was made on the school’s Facebook page on Aug. 23.

“We had four positive tests among staff that mainly affect the lower grades. Each parent, whose child is in that teacher’s classroom who tested positive, was notified by text. This is our stated policy,” the post stated.

Names of the staff members were not released.

Orientations for the upcoming school year were held last week.

“We do not want to publish names on this forum nor should any parent. The buildings, that includes the classrooms, hallways, lunchroom and bathrooms, were sanitized this weekend after all the past week’s activity,” the post stated. “Some of our association schools are dealing with these changes as well. We assure you we will keep you informed and will always act upon safety. We must remind all parents that they will not be able to enter the building except for the main office area.”
