Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

June will be a welcome month for high school coaches around Chilton County, as the AHSAA has decided to allow them to practice again.

This is most likely one of the longest periods of time that head coaches have not interacted with the majority of their players.

It is quite the difference from seeing them every day in the halls at school.

Coaches by nature like to be in control of their team and certain situations.

However, the concern over the coronavirus pandemic has created just the opposite and has left coaches with very limited control in recent months.

Lack of control is a nightmarish predicament for most coaches, but the Twilight Zone universe we have all been living in is beginning to show some light at the end of the tunnel.

In many ways, the return to practice is not just a glimmer, but instead a gleaming bright light that will only grow brighter with every day as June 1 approaches.

Joining in the coaches’ enthusiasm will be that of the players, many of which will be the happiest they’ve ever been to take part in a practice session.

Although these practices will not be quite “normal,” the only real thing that will look and feel different will be face masks and social distancing required by players on the sideline or not currently involved in an activity.

Other than the masks and the distancing, everything else will remain the same and the sports will continue to be played as they always have.

Sports is on the verge of being back in our lives at the local level, so let’s pray and even cross our fingers and toes while we are at it in hopes that these progressive steps continue to occur without any disruptions or setbacks popping up.
