As coronavirus social distancing recommendations continue, some aid local organizations have had to temporarily close.
However, Through the Grace of God Ministries has found ways to continue serving the community.
“It has been a great blessing that we could be here,” Bro. Ralph Bingham said. “Unfortunately, all of the agencies in our county have had to shut down. We have left our doors open … We have been able to help do many people.”
Connections through the years have helped the ministry to get donations of food. However, Bingham said as the ministry is now meeting more needs, the need for donations from the community has grown.
Donations of nonperishable food items and monetary donations are being accepted.
“We are so busy,” Bingham said. “We have been able to help so many people with their food and spiritual needs … but we really need the support of the community, and I know this is a burden on everybody.”
Through the Grace of God Ministries is a 501(c)3, and donations are tax deductible.
“It would certainly be a blessing at this time,” Bingham said.
Donations can be dropped off at 75 Eighth St. South (calling ahead is recommended). Checks can also be mailed to P.O. Box 2557, Clanton, AL 35046
Bingham said he has given away pallets worth of food during the recent crisis and hopes to have more available on April 3. For more details, visit the Through the Grace of God Ministries Facebook page. Pickup times can be reserved by calling 205-755-8199.
Precautions have been taken with pickup only options available, and none of the meals normally being offered at the ministry are being served. Several volunteers are also staying home to decrease the potential for the virus spreading.
