Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Raleigh’s Place is doing its part in sharing the love by hosting a father/daughter dance on Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.

“Raleigh’s Place desires for children to be in a safe and loving environment where their needs are met,” Kyla King with Raleigh’s Place said. “We feel a good way to help that is to encourage a strong family bond.”

It will be the third year the non profit organization has put on the event.

“The idea behind the dance was to encourage our community of men to spend time and invest in their daughters,” King said.

The father/daughter dance is unique because the mindset behind the event is different from other fundraisers that Raleigh’s Place has throughout the year, such as Celebration and Christmas Whistle-Stop.

According to King, the money from the tickets primarily goes toward covering the cost of the party itself, so it’s less of a fundraiser and more of just a party for our community.

“We love putting this event on for our community and giving fathers, grandfathers, uncles and primary caregivers the affordable opportunity to spend time with their girls, and they don’t have to plan a thing,” King said.

Something new at this year’s event will be homemade cupcakes and a macaroni and cheese bar for the guests.

“Come dressed in your best tea party hat and gloves,” King said. “Our staff is ready to ‘par-tea’ the night away.”

Admission is $25 per father/daughter duo and $10 for any additions.

Tickets can be purchased by calling or texting King at 205-217-6393. Checks can also be sent in to Raleigh’s Place at 346 County Road 1028 in Clanton.

“It’s always a great time, and we love putting this on,” King said.
