The Eighth Annual Flutter event hosted by Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center is scheduled for Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
This year’s event will have a theme of “Flutter the night away” and will be held for the first time at The Back Forty located at 611 County Road 448 in Clanton.
“The Back Forty is a great central location to the county, and we are excited to have Flutter 2020 at a new local venue,” Butterfly Bridge Executive Director Jana Zuelzke said.
Flutter is the organization’s primary fundraiser throughout the year, and the proceeds raised are “critical” in helping the justice and restoration process of abused children of Chilton County.
“We are asking that attendees help us ‘black out’ child abuse by wearing black attire,” Zuelzke said.
According to Zuelzke, last year’s event raised a record-breaking $40,000.
“This event is a great opportunity for the community to be the roots that give children their wings,” Zuelzke said. “Last year, we provided over 2,000 services to children and their families from Chilton County due to allegations of sexual or physical abuse. Without our community, we could not provide the highly specialized services we do daily. The unrestricted funds raised at Flutter each year are critical to us carrying out our mission.”
A trio of Jazz/Blues performers will be featured as the night’s entertainment, including Lauren Brown, Glen Butts and Chuck King.
Jemison High School culinary art students instructed by Raynette Ellison are back to cater the event.
“They have become a staple at the event,” Zuelzke said. “We are happy to have the involvement of local students.”
A large portion of the funds raised comes from auction items that will be available for people to bid on throughout the night.
“We are excited to offer a wide range of auction items,” Zuelzke said. “There is always something for everyone. We are still looking for sponsorship and auction donations.”
Tickets will be available at the door, but purchasing tickets prior to the event is suggested.
