Betty Bert Locke, 74 of Clanton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
She was born on April 10, 1945, in Kilmichael, Mississippi. Betty Bert spent her youth in Kilmichael, Mississippi, and later attended The University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, and achieved a degree in Home Economics.
She later obtained her Master’s in Education at Blue Mountain College. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Ford Locke, Jr. on March 11, 1967.
Kenny and Bert had three children, David Edward, Janet Elizabeth, and Joshua Ford. She taught Special Education and touched many lives in the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.
Surviving are her children, son David Locke (Kimiera), daughter, Janet Locke Skinner (Vaughn) and Josh Locke (Tovah). Her grandchildren are Riley Locke, Emma Kate Locke, Jackson Skinner, Maggie Skinner, and Brooks Locke, and two special caregivers Judy Logan and Mindy McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents A.C. and Corrine Greenlee, sister Janet Greenlee, and her loving husband Kenneth Ford Locke, Jr.
Friends of Betty Bert Locke will be received at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Clanton First United Methodist Church with a celebration service beginning at 11 a.m.
