In the Mood Jazz Festival is looking for artists, authors and craftsmen to participate in the event as vendors in the art show portion.

In the Mood Jazz Festival is sponsored by the Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild at Senior Connection on an annual basis. This year’s event will be on Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Co-chair for the committee Susan Hazzard of St. Clair County said she is excited to see new participants showing their talents.

Response has been good, but there are spots still available. Hazzard said an 11 feet by 11 feet area is $30. A table and as many chairs as are needed will be provided. Volunteers will also be on-hand to help vendors unload. Those interested in participating can contact Mary Schiermann at 205-907-0008.

The work to be displayed must be the original work of the vendor.

Hazzard will be featuring some of her oil paintings as well as pencil and charcoal artwork.

“I’m really excited about getting the creative arts introduced to the community and getting the community involved in the creative arts,” Hazzard said.

Hazzard is on the board of The Isabel Anderson Comer Museum and Art Center in Sylacauga, which has partnered with the Central Alabama Performing Arts guild to provide some of the artists for the event.

Two authors from Talladega, someone specializing in art from recycled materials, a master woodcarver and an artist specializing in wool scarves she dyes herself have already sign on to be at the event.

“We wanted a variety of vendors, and we have been successful so far,” Hazzard said.
