Football is soon to start up at all levels of competition, and that includes youth leagues throughout the county.

The Isabella community held its Mustang Night on Aug. 9, while the Verbena youth league will host Clanton Blue in its Second Annual Red and Blue Jamboree on Aug. 13.

According to Diane Patterson with the Verbena youth league, it will be the first time since 1980 that any Clanton football team has played at Verbena. Clanton won by one point.

Last year was the inaugural event and the first year for the re-established Verbena league.

“It raised a lot of money for both of the leagues,” Patterson said. “We started from nothing.”

Tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for children, and concessions will be sold.

The two leagues will split the funds.

Due to Verbena’s bleachers being under construction, fans are asked to bring their lawn chairs.

Midgets will kick things off at 6 p.m. followed by minors at 7 p.m. and majors at 8 p.m.
