The 2019 Peach Pageant kicked off on June 22 with the crowning of Ryleigh Green of Maplesville as Little Miss Peach.

Green said this was her first time competing in the Peach pageant.

“I love being in pageants,” Green said.

When her name was announced, Green said “I almost had tears.”

She said she is looking forward to eating ice cream at Peach Park as part of her prizes.

Her favorite flavor is “chocolate with chocolate chips and sprinkles.”

Kinzley Baker was named first alternate. Nora Kayte Camarillo was second alternate. Harper Cleckley was third alternate and the casual wear winner. The fourth alternate was Anna Kate Gray. The coloring contest winner was Lexi Matson.

This year, a top 10 was also selected, including Matson, Cleckley, Camarillo, Baker, Gray, Zoey Atchison, Lily Burke, Green, Caroline Gaines and Jeslyn Hill.

The interview portion of the contest was held prior to the live competition where girls modeled casual wear and evening gowns.

“To the 2019 Little Miss Peach Queen, get ready for one of the best years of your life,” outgoing 2018 Little Miss Peach Queen Anna Mims said. “It is an amazing opportunity that I will always be thankful for. Don’t blink, because it will be over before you know it. Have fun. Smile big and enjoy every moment.”

Mims used her farewell speech to thank all of those who made it a “great year.”

“Thank you to all of the businesses that donated gifts last year,” Mims said. “I loved my peachy Christmas. I was so excited.”

Along with numerous prizes from local businesses, Little Miss peach also receives $500. The first alternate receives $300.

This year’s pageant was the 50th anniversary of the Little Miss Peach pageant. The occasion was celebrated by honoring the very first Little Miss Peach Jill Grant Mims. Mims now lives in Hueytown.
